 As a long time employee of New Leaf, I have often been asked the question, “Why do women stay?” In my more than 17 years working here, my burning question is, “Why are men so resistant to treating women respectfully?”

 New Leaf received an unexpected opportunity to present to the House of Commons’ Standing Committee on the Status of Women. The specific study they are currently working on is, Violence against young women and girls. Our understanding is that this invitation came through Sean Fraser, Liberal MP for Central Nova who sits on this committee.
Harvey Bate, Co-Chair of the Board of Directors and Cathy Grant, Program Director traveled to Ottawa on October 31, 2016 and talked about the New Leaf Program. It was an amazing experience and thanks go out to Sean Fraser and the Committee members who made this possible. |
